The remarkable observation for a mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) food from estuarine/coastal area (İzmir/Turkey): A mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki)

The purpose of this study is to create awareness about the species mosquito fishes (Gambusia holbrooki Girard, 1859) both vectors and ways introduction new aquatic habitats. Because creates risks, especially for circumstance native endemic fish fauna, studies stories are quite important prevent risk. In current report, mosquitofishes which known as a highly invasive were found in crop content hen mallard duck (Anas platyrhynchos L., 1758) an estuarine area, Gediz River Basin (İzmir, Turkey). This report first record consuming mosquitofish. Although nevertheless, it that feeding behaviour does not predominantly contain (they mainly feed on plant seeds), according observation, mosquitofish might be added prey list mallards type food. Therewith, behavior also indicates ducks potential vector transport mosquitofishes.
